Project 001
Vox Magazine
We were prompted to convert an online magazine into print format. The only condition was that the publication needed to highlight a social topic that we hadn't previously explored, or had much knowledge of. I opted to better understand gender inequality issues, by which, I discovered Vox Magazine. Vox is a provocative and non-conformist publication that seeks to "profile the human condition" and expose social injustice.
MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) has a large community that avidly supports LGBTQA+ social causes—and I am a cisgender heterosexual male with no concept of gender identity issues, so I decided the editorial was a good fit. I found the articles within "The Goods" section of Vox to be both inspiring and somewhat relatable. Ultimately, these readings led me to a non-bias and informed redesign solution which I felt captured the vibrancy and aesthetic of my chosen edition.
